Alice Chlo Poore (“Gigi” to her grandchildren) of Overland Park, Kansas, departed this earth to be with Jesus on Saturday morning, June 20, 2026. She was born Alice Possoit on March 17, 1942, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to parents James “Pee Wee” & Almena (Roberson) Possoit. The family eventually moved to Longview, Texas, where Alice grew up.
While in school there (in the 8th grade), she met the love of her life, “Joe” Morris Glenn Poore. They wed on August 3, 1963 and were married fifty-four years when Joe went to be with Jesus in February 2018.
Alice graduated from Kilgore College (formerly Kilgore Junior College) in Kilgore, TX. She was a former member of the world-famous Kilgore College Rangerettes drill team and was part of the group during the era of the team’s founder, Gussie Nell Davis. She worked as an administrative assistant for several decades. She served in the oil and gas industry, dental and medical fields, and financial services.
Her family was Alice’s absolute pride and joy! Stefani Cee was born to Joe and Alice in 1967, then Kelly Glenn in 1973. She is survived by daughter Stefani (Geoff) Huber; their 3 sons Hunter James (Caroline) Huber, Walter Nathaniel (Kylie) Huber, and Skyler Samuel Huber; her son Kelly (Kimberly) Poore; and their children Landry & Sawyer Poore. She also had four great grandchildren, Harper Jane (Hunter & Caroline) and Dylan Micah (Nathan & Kylie) – plus two she didn’t get the chance to meet yet, as both Caroline & Kylie are pregnant with July 2026 due dates.
She is also survived by Joe’s brother, Jim Poore and his children, Stacy Price & Christopher Poore; her first cousin Charlotte Morey; and second cousins Carlotta Petersen & Barry Eaves.
Alice was actively involved at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and in Bible Study Fellowship. She was the unofficial chair of the Social Committee in her neighborhood, organizing and hosting gatherings in her garage or on her patio for years. Perhaps her favorite pastimes were extended trips to Longview to see Kelly’s family and her friends there, and enjoying boat rides at the lake with her local kids and grandkids… she just loved being together.
And she made friends everywhere she went! She kept in regular contact with Church friends, former co-workers, neighbors, lifelong friends from all her years in Longview, even fellow widows from Joe’s time at Garden Terrace Skilled Nursing Facility in Overland Park.
Her family is devastated by her sudden passing, yet eternally grateful for the promises of heaven. The thought of her being welcomed by Jesus and reunited with Joe is a picture of perfection.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church 13300 Kenneth Road, Leawood, KS on Saturday, June 27 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a gift to Cornerstone or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Her family would like to encourage everyone to accept Jesus as their personal Lord & Savior. Alice’s sudden passing reminds us that every single breath and heartbeat is precious… May God bless and protect you.

It is with great sadness for me to be posting this message. It is also with great joy. I know Alice is in the arms of Jesus . I was blessed to call her my friend for over forty years. I always thought I would see her again. Rest in peace, my precious friend.
To Stefani and Kelly and all of her family, I grieve with you and share your feeling of loss. All of you will be in my prayers. May God bless each of you.
Dear Stefani and family, I have been thinking of you all nonstop since I found out about Alice’s passing. I have really enjoyed knowing Alice through Facebook and the time we had lunch together. I pray that God will comfort all of you at this very sad time.
I am deeply saddened at the news of my cousins passing. I have always looked up to her throughout our lives. She and I have always kept in touch. She was always giving of herself in family matters. My grandmother (Ellode Possoit Slaughter was Pee Wees sister.)When our cousin Bobby Frank Evans (his mother Noralie Possoit Evans was Pee Wees sister)had a stroke she was by his side taking care of his affairs. When I came back to Shreveport from vacation in California I learned of his condition and spent precious time with him in the nursing home. I will always be thankful for her acts of kindness. She was definitely one in a million.
I am so sorry. I always enjoyed her. She always had a smile.
So sorry to hear this news. We were blessed to live across back yard of Alice for several years til this past December.
Alice was the first to welcome us to the neighborhood, inviting us to her always welcoming backyard table after dinner (weather permitting). She looked out for our place when we had to travel and was always checking in via text even after we moved. Truly a special soul.
Our condolences to the entire family.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Alice. She was such a nice person. Always had that pretty smile on her face.
Our granddaughter recently moved to Kansas City and works for a company in Overland Park. Alice sent me a note about two weeks ago saying to let her know if Ashleigh needed anything. Thought that was do sweet if her.
I am devastated to hear this. She was always one of my favorite friends at Presbyterian Church of Stanley. My deepest condolences condolences to Stephanie and Geoff and their three wonderful sons and their families.
