Alicia Kay Andersen, 52, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, December 5, 2016, at Saint Luke’s Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. She left this world in her sleep after a week full of visits from her closest friends and family, ten months after being diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Alicia was born on March 8, 1964 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Allen and Diane Reynolds.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Lee’s Summit Community Church 1440 SW Jefferson St, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64081. Alicia’s family will be greeting friends at a reception following the service from 2:30-4:30pm.
Alicia was an accomplished leader and athlete in high school and college. She led Lee’s Summit High School with pride as the Student Body President, and played Volleyball, Track, and Basketball. Alicia went on to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Journalism at Iowa State with the determination to play on the school’s volleyball team. Not only did she earn her position on the volleyball court, but she was awarded an athletic scholarship after her Freshman year. Alicia made the Big Eight All-Tournament Team her Sophomore year, Second Team All-Big Eight her Junior year, and today holds the 10th place ranking of Most Aces in an Individual Single-Season at 47 at Iowa State. After college, Alicia became a successful entrepreneur and opened two businesses, a Salon, Sunsational Tan Hair & Nails and a family fun center, Tunnel Town. Alicia put her heart and soul into raising her two daughters and loved watching them play sports, participate in choir and musicals, and succeed academically. She loved the outdoors and spent most of her summers gardening and hosting friends and family in her backyard oasis. Alicia was also a world traveler and was always ready to plan an adventurous vacation.
She is survived by her parents Al and Diane Reynolds of Greenwood, MO, her two daughters Kylie McCollum, 24, and Baylie Andersen, 17, her husband Geoff Andersen of Lee’s Summit, MO, siblings Jennifer Cunningham and her family Michelle, Sam, Nicole, Glen, Malibu, Clark, and Charlie of Emporia, KS, Monica Clancy and her family Samantha and Marc of Long Island, NY, Allen Reynolds and his family Samantha, Abbey, and Alex of Liberty, MO, and Thomas Reynolds and his family Dianna, Cliff, Rowan, Victoria, and Cloe of Buckner, MO.
Alicia left a lasting impression of laughter, compassion, leadership, wit, and love encompassed by her Christ centered life. She was always the life of the party and made every effort to live in the moment. She will forever be remembered by her contagious spirit. In lieu of flowers, just kidding Alicia loved flowers! For any donations, the family asks that they be sent to The cholangiocarcinoma Foundation at http://cholangiocarcinoma.org/

A great obit for a great women. Our family loved Alicia, and her family. We had so many great memories traveling the volleyball circuit with them. I will forever cherish these. Geoff and girls we are here for you.
My sympathies to her family and friends. Alicia, such a presence, so fun, and animated, beautiful and sincere. I was lucky to have been a part of her volleyball cheer section at ISU. We went our separate ways until our group celebrated 40th birthdays in Minneapolis~ this was the first time since college I had seen Alicia~ she met me at the airport~ bigger than life! No time was ever wasted. She lived a whole life in only 52 years, well done, well lived and well loved!
My sincere sympathy to family and friends of Alicia. I had the pleasure of getting to know Alicia when she and my daughter (Julie Proctor
Whyte) were at Lee’s Summit High, same class.
