Katherine Elizabeth Nichols, fondly known as Betty Kaye, of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully on the 26th of December after a long illness. She was 89 years old.
Betty was born on May 16, 1933 in Augusta, Kansas. She lived her entire life in the Kansas City area. She was employed at a local law firm as a legal secretary and later at Sprint. A graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City in 1951, she then attended Baker University in Baldwin, KS where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was a charter member of Christ Episcopal Church in Overland Park and participated in many of its early day activities. Betty was active in community outreach and served with several food programs for those in need. Her benevolence was noteworthy.
She leaves behind two children, Nancy Kenyon (Mark) and Larry Nichols (Becky), both of Overland Park. A third child, John Nichols passed away in 2009. She also leaves 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, her husband Henry “Hank” Allberg and brother Hank Rector. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Nichols in 2006. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday January 16th at 10:30AM at Christ Community Church, 14200 Kenneth Rd. Leawood, Kansas.
