Dorothy Ann (Cullen) Blottman, died January 12th 2026, at the age of 90. Dorothy was loved by everyone she met. She was known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and the twinkle in her eye. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and aunt, deeply committed to her family and grounded in a strong and unwavering faith in God.
Dorothy is survived by her four children, Jim (Deirdre), Mary Pat (Pete), Bridget (Jeff), and Helen (Matt); and six grandchildren, Melissa (Dan), Brendan, Chloe, Jacqueline, Vivian, and Alex. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Thomas Baker, whom she married in 2014 and who died in 2025. They loved each other deeply. Tom and Dorothy exuded joy, love, and companionship with the presence of God and faith surrounding them. Dorothy adored the four Baker children as her own.
Dorothy was born in 1935 in Pilot Grove, MO, the youngest of eight children. Her father, John Cullen died when she was four months old. Her family moved from their farm in Pilot Grove to Kansas City, where they started a new life and Dorothy was raised by her siblings and mother. Dorothy attended Lillis High School and then married Thomas Blottman in 1962. Tom and Dorothy welcomed Jim in 1965, and five years later had three girls under the age of 2 with Mary Pat, Bridget, and Helen. While raising her four children, she worked two jobs at Bendix and Halls on the Plaza for 25 years.
She was a kind and gentle soul. Dorothy devoted her life to God, her family and was a devout Catholic. She had strong roots in Missouri and was proud of her Irish heritage. Her greatest accomplishment was single-handedly raising her four children. She loved being a grandmother, sharing her faith and bestowing her wisdom on all her six grandkids. Dorothy always carried herself with grace and quiet beauty—never without her smile. She lived her life rooted in God, prayer, and her personal mantra, “Keep the Faith”.
She was a member of both St. Peter’s and St. Thomas More Catholic parishes during her long life. Dorothy’s kind nature and witty humor will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her. God bless Dorothy and may she rest in heavenly peace with Jesus Christ.

Dorothy had a beautiful way about her! I don’t think she ever met a stranger; she embraced everyone with her kind heart and beautiful soul. She will be missed. May her generous spirit live on in her children and all those she touched so deeply.
My Great Grandmother (her older sister) Rose spoke so well of her. I still remember the 2 of them laughing together all these years later. Godspeed to her soul as it embarks to God and Blessings to all left behind by her absence. A true love in this world indeed.

Dorothy was a beloved “Lillis Fighting Irish” school mate at Lillis High School. Always smiling – always gentle and honest. May she rest in peace and may God bless your family.
Sending prayers for the family from the Morris Masters in remembrance of a life well-lived
I do not know Dorothy but I know her son James (Jim) who I consider one of the nicest person on earth. Selfless, always genuinely thinking about others and promoting their growth and success. Jim’s great impacts on hundreds of children and young adults in various schools in Enugu, Nigeria, Africa through OneHopeChildren Foundation Rugby academy are inestimable to say the least. I have no doubt that Dorothy raised Jim to be such a man of great value to the world. Even in death she has continued to add great value to the world through her gift her son Jim. May the Lord rest her soul in perfect peace and give her family the fortitude to bear the loss
Fr. Felix.
My condolences.
Sorry for the loss, you and your family are all in my thoughts and prayers.
