Ernest Edward Clock III, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly on December 14, at the age of 78 in his home in Overland Park, Kansas.
Ed was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was steadfast in his exceptional kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.
Growing up in Noel, Missouri, he had a love of floating the Elk and Niangua Rivers. He went there annually for many years with his long time Warrensburg buddies who he met at University of Central Missouri. After graduating from DeVry, Ed worked at Yellow Freight as a programmer for many years. He retired from DST Systems in 2016.
In his spare time, Ed enjoyed socializing with friends and family, watching youth sports, and cheering on the Chiefs. He would referee and umpire high school baseball, volleyball, and basketball games. He loved watching his grandchildren play music and participate in high school sports. Ed was an avid golfer, sports fan, music lover, punster, and an eternal optimist; prepared for any situation with another cooler, bungee cords, or mints…He was always the guy with the extra set of work gloves. He especially loved Christmas, so much so that he owned 101 Christmas CDs!
Ed was a Vietnam veteran, serving from 1969-1970 in the 31st infantry. He was very dedicated to the men of his platoon and the others he served with. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Soldier’s Medal for his service.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Clock, daughter, Jennifer Nash, son-in-law, Paul Nash, and grandchildren, Claire and Chase Nash and his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Lynne Clock, and niece and great niece, Zoey and Zahra, and his nieces Jill Birdsong and Becky Peeler.
Suzanne I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Ed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this most difficult time.

Suzanne…. We send love and our deepest condolences. It was a pleasure to know Ed. His quick smile and gentle, kind spirit always welcomed us. You and your family remain in our thoughts and prayers.
Take care.
Ed was a classmate at Noel High School and a dear friend. I am saddened by his passing and extend my heartfelt condolences to Suzanne and all members of his family.
Ed and his brother, Jim were my favorite ‘guys’ since we were 5 years old. Went from first grade through high school. He was always a gentleman, pleasant, thoughtful. I, as everyone, are blessed to have known him
Ed, thanks for showing me the way a “good man” walks thru this world. In my heart, you’re riding shotgun. Thanks for saving us from drowning in the Elk! Old Drum’s tail has got to be wagging. Love you Suzanne.
Matt and Chris
I knew Ed from years growing up and attending school in Noel, with many fond memories of Ed and brother Jim, who were a year ahead in the Class of ’64. I am saddened to hear of his passing and offer my condolences to Suzanne and members of the family.
Ed (and Jim) and I were classmates from first grade through high school graduation. We had many fun and crazy times together. I always knew Ed as kind and considerate, always first to show love and care for someone who was struggling. Every time I floated Elk River fishing and passed the Clock house, I always smiled. I am so, so sorry for your hurt.

The first thing I think of when I think of Ed is his quick wit. He always made me laugh. What a gift! He will be greatly missed by everyone.
