Helen A. Frank, 88, passed into the loving arms of God on Oct. 20, 2012 surrounded by family after a short illness . She was born Jan. 11, 1924 in Kansas City, MO. Growing up in Osawatomie, KS as an only child, she was always proud of her father who was a dispatcher for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. She has many fond memories of taking the train for weekend trips to downtown Kansas City to shop and visit many aunts and uncles. She graduated from St. Phillip’s Grade School in Osawatomie and Ursuline Academy High School in Paola where she was senior class president. She received an Associate in Arts degree from the College of Paola. She moved to Kansas City at age 19 to work for a law firm and has lived in Kansas City since that time. She married Victor L. Frank in 1951. She worked as a secretary and collection agent at several mortgage companies. Helen was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas A. Carey and Hedwig C. Carey. Helen is survived by son Tom Frank and wife Virginia, daughter Vicki Hicks and husband Mike, and daughter Mary Anne Frank; grandchildren, Beth Tinsley and husband Chris, Sgt. Benjamin Hicks and wife Heidi, and Katie Gross and husband Dan along with 7 great granddaughters. She will be dearly missed for her strength, wit, and unconditional love to all who knew her. Thanks to the many compassionate and dedicated nurses and health care professionals at the University of Kansas Hospital and Center on Aging for their loving care. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, Oct. 26 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church at 75th & Main, KC, MO with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. followed by Rosary and Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery at 2 p.m. at 7801 Blue Ridge Blvd, KC, MO.
