Herschel O. Ward, Prairie Village, Kan., died Thursday, June 30, 2011. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 5400 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, with a celebration of his life to follow at the church. The family requests no flowers. Herschel was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Sedalia, Mo. He retired after 30 years as a tool and die maker at Ford Motor Co., Claycomo, Mo., was a member of UAW Local 249, and served on the board of Clay Co. Public Water District No. 3 for 22 years. Herschel was an avid hunter and fisherman, the life of the party wherever he went, and loved his family. He is now dancing with the littlest angels in heaven. Survivors include wife, Marilyn L. Ward of the home, daughter, Marchea (Wynne Jennings), son, Bob (Susan), son, Larry (Janelle), six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
