Ethel Jean Eason, 92, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully December 7, 2016. She was born September 30, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, to George and Edna (Froeschle) Winslow. She was a homemaker, a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Ethel preferred the nickname Jeanne. She attended North East High School and took art classes at area community colleges. She loved the arts. In her earlier years, she was very interested in fashion and did modeling in the Kansas City area. She volunteered for the Red Cross at NKC Hospital and for area women’s shelters. She attended Unity Temple on the Plaza. She was an avid reader and had a passion for discussing politics. Her greatest passion was caring for the loves of her life, her grandchildren. All who knew Jeanne treasured her sense of humor, and her steadfast support and loyalty to her family.
She was proceeded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Dr. George E. Winslow, daughters Georgia Ziller-Pigg and Kathleen Rooney; granddaughter, Heather; two grandsons, Scott and Andrew; a great grandson, Jackson; four great granddaughters, Olivia, Kylie, Halle, and Kalyn; her two nieces, Cindy Winslow and Jean (Jan) Winslow; and her son-in-law Joseph Rooney.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to The Gardens at Barry Road, and the extraordinary care provided by the nurses and staff there who helped her remain her fiercely independent self in later years.
A celebration of her life will be held on December 17th, 2016 at the Weatherby Lake Community Center from 2:00-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W 75th St. Prairie Village, KS 66208.
May the Blessings Be for the family. Jeannie was a beautiful soul and will be missed.
