Margaret Mary O’Connor Porter was born October 4th, 1955 to Edward and Kathleen O’Connor in Kansas City, MO. She passed peacefully on December 29th, 2019 surrounded by love. She lived a joyous and laughter filled life which she shared with her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, parents and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday January 3, 2019 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 815 E. Meyer Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64131, followed by a celebration of her beautiful life.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd. Kansas City, MO 64137.

Margaret was known by many names including Peg, Peggy, Margo, Aunt Peg, Miss Margaret and of course, Grandmother. Each of these titles was a point of pride for Peggy. She had an irreplaceable bond with every single person in her life. She was able to light up a room with her laughter and radiant energy just as she was able to be a quiet calm in the storm.

As a lover of comfort, Peggy found the most solace in her husband of thirty-five years, Bill. He was the foundation she built her love for life upon. Her sense of humor was a pinnacleof her personality that she passed down to both of her children, Liam and Maura, her daughter-in-law, April, as well as her gaggle of nieces and nephews. She was always there to poke fun and find the mischief in the mundane. There are countless tales of shenanigans with her siblings Ned, Eileen, Kathy, Sean and Bridgie which were most often led by Peggy herself. She was quick witted and could carry on a conversation with just about anyone. A trait inherited from both her father, Edward and her mother, Kathleen.

Peggy’s greatest joy in this life was her granddaughters, Ainsley Grace and Emma Jean. She was fortunate enough to care for them every Saturday night. They were her favorite topic of conversation and best friends. In Ainsley, she fostered a spirit of unlimited adventure and determination. Even in little Emma, Peggy left behind a readiness to greet everyone with a smile.

Whether it was her giving spirit, her willingness to brush off the bad stuff or her truly loving heart, Peggy was never short of a friend, both human and animal alike. It was effortless for her to love and be loved in return. Most importantly, she saw the best in everyone she met thus letting them see the best in themselves.

Peggy will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
