Max Reinig, 59, passed away surrounded by his family on April 14, 2026.  Max was born on July 21,1966 to Alfred (Fritz) and Mary Reinig.  He was an Iowa boy at heart, but a Kansan and Jayhawk by adoption.  He received a BS in Computer Science from Truman State in 1988 and later an MBA from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, double- majoring in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies, where he graduated with Distinction in 1996.

Max joined Cerner Corporation in the summer of 1988 fresh out of his undergrad.  He worked there for nearly 30 years, but the highlight was meeting his future wife, Michelle. He saw her coming out of an elevator on the sixth floor and thought “I need to meet her.” He spent the better part of his career as a member of their executive leadership team, but it is the people from Cerner he cherished most. He was a valued mentor and friend to countless employees. To this day, some of his closest friends are the people who helped build Cerner alongside him. He completed his career with Redivus Health, a small but mighty startup which he enjoyed thoroughly.

Max worked very hard and achieved so much, but his true purpose was being an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.  He cherished people and connections and he worked to build people up, not tear them down. Max was kind, patient, loving, funny and fiercely loyal. He was kind to everyone, a stranger to none, and the type of friend everyone deserves – loyal and fun.

Max was—and is—a hero to his sons. He never let his busy schedule prevent him from spending time with his family.  He coached his sons’ soccer teams (and some basketball) for over 20 years and loved being out and about and hearing now grown men say “Hi coach.”

Max is survived by his wife, Michelle Brouillette Reinig, his sons Jake (daughter-in-law Katie Rudolph), Mitch (Ava), Sam and Nick Reinig, his mother, Mary Reinig, and his brothers and sisters, August Reinig (Kathleen), Mark Reinig (Brenda), Barb Mundy (Don), Mary Beth Pyle (Ken), and Bruce Reinig, his parents-in-law, Connie and Gary Brouillette and brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Jenny Brouillette, along with nieces and nephews that he loved and cherished. He was preceded in death by his father, Fritz Reinig, his sister-in-law Jeannette (Bruce) Reinig, and his niece, Monica Pyle.

A celebration of Max’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 21st at 2pm at Resurrection Leawood, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS 66224. A reception will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to First Hand Foundation at the following link.    https://firsthandfoundation.org/donate/
