In Loving Memory of Steve Saar
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Steve Saar, who passed away on July 21 at the age of 69.
Steve was born in Montebello, California. From an early age, he was known for his kindness, fun-loving spirit, and determination—qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
After graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in La Palma, California, Steve continued his education at California State University, Long Beach, Colorado State University, and ultimately earned his dental degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.
Steve began his career as a dentist in Oceanside, California, where he practiced for ten years and made a meaningful impact on the lives of his patients. He was respected for his dedication, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others. In 2000, Steve transitioned from dentistry into a career in medical device sales and education, a profession he continued until his passing. Most recently, he served in medical device education and training with Spinal Simplicity, where he was dedicated to excellence and highly respected by his colleagues. He remained deeply committed to his work until the very end.
Outside of his career, Steve found happiness in life’s simpler pleasures. He enjoyed working in his yard, tending to his garden, and spending quiet hours reading. Steve could often be found on his favorite barstool, enjoying a well-made margarita or Old Fashioned. Whether catching up with old friends or striking up a conversation with someone new, he appreciated the joy of good company, easy laughter, and meaningful conversation. Steve was never one to seek the spotlight, finding contentment in life’s simple moments and the people he loved. Those who knew him best will remember his kind heart, gentle nature, and quiet strength.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Lori, his brother, Jim Saar and his wife, Tisha; his sister, Lora Brixey and her husband, Jeff; his beloved nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews, who will always cherish their memories of him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Saar; his mother, Martha Jensen; and his sister, Linda Saar.
Above all, Steve will be remembered for the countless lives he touched and the love he shared so freely. And, of course, his favorite saying—one that family and friends will always hear in his voice—was, “Clean cars go faster!”
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Signature Funerals 406 E. Bannister Road, Suite D, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Special remarks will begin at 1:30 pm. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and honor a life beautifully lived.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137, or you may honor Steve’s memory by performing an act of kindness in his name.

Steve was one of the kindest and most gentle souls on the planet. I will miss talking to him and coming away with a feeling of peace and joy everytime!! My thoughts and prayers go out to Lorie and his family!
I am so very sorry to learn this and will keep Steve, Lori and family in my prayers. Bert
My deepest condolences to Steve’s family. He will forever be in my memory as the kindest, most lovable and the warmest young man who always gave the biggest hugs and smiles. I was one of his friends and patient who benefited by his easy going nature that he rewarded to those he took care of in his dental practice in Oceanside, CA. May his memory continue to live on.
I knew Steve just out of high school and he, Jeanie, Jerry and Helen and the gang would come to my house in Surfside. I’m so sad to hear of his passing and would have loved to have seen him. Everything in this obituary is exactly as I remember sweet…always laughing Steve. My heart goes out to you Lori and the rest of his family.
Such sweet memories I have of our times spent with Steve and Lori while we lived in North Palm Beach Florida. Steve was a reliable source of a warm hug, abroad smile, and an optimistic outlook on life. Always ready and willing for the next adventure, spontaneity was his specialty. The love that he and Lori shared was enchanting, always speaking so highly of Lori, the love of his life. His absence will be messed by all that knew him, but our memories of Steve will forever live on. May peace be with his family at this time of great loss and sorrow.
Le nostre più sentite condoglianze per la perdita del caro Steve. Un abbraccio Bertuzzi luciana
I worked with Steve for a short time at Xspine/Xtant medical. I will always be thankful for the opportunity he gave me, and I am grateful for the time I was able to get to know him and work with him. I’m very sorry to hear of his passing, the world is a lesser place without him in it. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, god bless.
Blessings to you all…Steve blessed me and all our classmates 50+ years ago atJFK ! To know him was to love his caring and happy persona. Gather together old friend. Grab Linda and a volume of friends in Heaven and keep the smiles growing…
I also attended John F Kennedy and graduated with Linda. I used to spend the night at their home in La Palma and had many fun times at the Saar home. Linda and I were very close.
In the late 80’s Steve was the dentist for my children and they loved him and never complained about having to go to the dentist. My daughter needed braces and her teeth are still beautiful today.
In high school we hung out with Edie Solis and Steve was always so much fun to be around. I was so shocked to hear of his passing but the Lord knows more than I do.
My condolences to all the family members and may God bring you peace in your hearts during this difficult time.
Rest In Peace my dear friend

I feel fortunate to have met Steve 1st through friends and then as his dental patient. He was always a breath of fresh air with his easy going nature and smile. I remember when he met Lori, how happy he was. My condolences to her and all the family.
I’m met Steve in Jr High and became friends. From his head full of curls and a smile so infectious, he was just a wonderful friend. There was always laughter in his presence and he was willing to be silly. I’m so glad he traveled for our last hs reunion. May everyone’s memories help us try to continue without him. Until we meet again. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
