Charla Jane Templar, 82, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025.
Born on July 20, 1942, in Borger, Texas, Charla’s life was marked by a deep love of learning and a quiet strength that touched everyone she knew. Over the years, she called Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas home, building a life centered around education, family, and faith.
With a passion for choir and music, Charla first obtained a music degree from Southwestern Bible Institute in Waxahachie, TX, before earning a bachelor’s degree in education from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and a master’s degree from Kansas State University. She dedicated her career to teaching young children, primarily as a kindergarten teacher, and her enthusiasm for education continued beyond retirement.
Charla was an avid reader and lifelong learner who also found joy in antiques, historical knowledge, and stories that connect us to those who came before. Her greatest happiness was spending time with her grandchildren and extended family.
Charla is survived by her sister, Dellinda Hueston, of Charlottesville, Virginia; her daughter, Jana Hale (Jeff) of Eskridge, Kansas; her son, Dalton Templar (Jonna) of Overland Park, Kansas; and four beloved grandchildren: Zane and Mika Hale, and Evan and Will Templar. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred Dalton, and a nephew, Vance Hueston.
The family held a private memorial service in her honor. Memorial contributions may be made to Kids Need to Read, at kidsneedtoread.org in Charla’s memory.
Our deepest sympathy to both Dalton, Jana and their families. Your Mom loved you both very much. You were her world. Our love and prayers.
