Jill Burdee (Strang) Barrett passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025 at the age of 88.  Jill was born in Mishawaka, IN on February 24, 1937 to Rex and Ruth (Glassman) Strang.  She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1955 and went on to serve as a secretary in the International Marketing Department with Bayer Corporation for over 20 years.

Jill married Larry J. Barrett on December 5,1958 and gave birth to Stacey Sue Barrett (Webb) in 1959 and Scott Joseph Rex Barrett in 1962.

Jill was passionate about caring for children and was actively involved in her local foster care program.  She and her husband Larry opened their home to 9 foster children over a span of about 5 years.

Hobbies included playing & singing at the piano, choir, sewing, boating, travel and entertaining friends and family.

Jill is survived by her daughter Stacey (Barrett) Webb (Robert) of Kansas City, MO, her son Scott Barrett of South Bend, IN, three grandchildren:   Ashley (Webb) Folger (Paul) of Wichita KS, Tyler Webb of Overland Park, KS, and Aaron Joseph (AJ) Barrett of Alexandria, IN as well as four great-grandchildren:   Ezra Barrett, Rory, Annie, and Nolan Folger.   She is predeceased by her parents Rex and Ruth Strang, her brother Jack Strang (Beverly), and her husband of 55 years, Larry Barrett.

Visitation will be held at Resurrection Church, 1601 Grand Blvd., Kansas City, MO  on July 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m.  Jill always showed up “dressed to the Nines” so we invite you to celebrate Jill in your happiest of colors!   (Blue was her favorite, just so you know!)

In memory of Jill, the family would welcome contributions to a local foster care organization, Cornerstones of Care Home – Cornerstones of Care.
