On May 19,2013, Janis Marie Provost Masters passed away.  Janis was born April 3, 1937 in Mandan, ND and raised in Glendive, Montana.  Janis received an Associates Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Montana College of Education.  Janis worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad in St. Paul, Minnesota where she met her life-long partner of 50 years, Jerry Masters.  They were married on February 23, 1963 at the Cathedral of St. Paul.

They began their life “on the move”.  First came Brian Masters in Sandpoint, ID.  Then, Bruce Masters in Mandan, ND.  They came full-circle with Marie Masters born in St. Paul, MN.  Her full-time career became hockey chauffeur and, most importantly of all, MOM.  Janis enjoyed her volunteer work at the church and various schools the kids attended.

As the children got older, Janis took up duplicate bridge.  She obtained the rank of Silver Life Master with the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League).

Janis and Jerry enjoyed traveling and meeting new friends all around the world.  Janis enjoyed entertaining all her friends.  She knew how to put on a party!  Their “final” retirement landed them in Bonita Springs, FL where they became active in bridge clubs and home’s association activities.  She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s various activities.  They were the lights of her life.

Janis was a member of  Nativity Catholic Church in Leawood, KS, where services will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2013.  A visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00.  There will be a graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas  at 2:00 pm.

Janis is survived by her husband, Jerry Masters; her three children: Brian Masters/Lori (Balsam Lake, WI), Bruce Masters (Overland Park, KS), Marie Pollock/Robert (Leawood, KS); two grandchildren, Morgan Marie Masters and Joseph Robert Masters Pollock; five step grandchildren, Daniel Pollock, Teresa Pollock, David Pollock, Sara Wiese and John Wiese; Sister, Normajean DuBay and nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
