Brendan Joseph Janes, a cherished individual known for his kind, loving, caring, and humorous personality, left us on September 25, 2024. Born on December 12, 1994, Brendan lived a life filled with tremendous passion and service towards others.
Brendan is survived by his mother, Maura, his brothers, Ian(Kristin), Connor (Taryn) and Colin, father Timothy, nephew and niece Quinn and Bennett, and partner Lauren whose lives were greatly enriched by Brendan’s presence. Brendan’s departure leaves an unfillable void in our lives, yet we find comfort in the memories and everlasting love we shared.
Brendan was highly active throughout his entire life. An alumnus of Emporia State University, Fort Scott Community College and Blue Valley High School, excelled in baseball, contributing to championship runs at all three schools. His commitment to kindness, empathy, and capacity to bring joy to those around him led him to be a Registered Cardiac Nurse at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he was renowned for his exceptional care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, as Brendan prioritized education and patient care, please consider donating to a charity beloved by Brendan; Gotta Have HOPE, Inc. 16340 Dearborn Drive, Stilwell, KS 66085. www.gottahavehope.org
A Requiem Mass will be held on October 4th at 11:00 at Queen of the Holy Rosary in Wea, KS. A visitation will begin at 10:00.
Brendan Janes, a beacon of kindness and love, will forever reside in our hearts. His legacy, exemplified by the exceptional treatment and empathy he bestowed on his patients, will continue to inspire and guide us.

Julie and I are so very sorry for your loss. Brendan was an amazing young man. I totally loved coaching him and that Sophomore team was a special one that I will always remember. Brendan was always competitive, gave maximum effort and was a great teammate.People often ask me why I still coach- it’s because kids like Brendan make it a privilege to do so. They give me hope and strength.I am so proud of you Tim and Maura for the wonderful family you have raised. All your boys are wonderful young men.Brendan story: After our Olathe South Tournament as a team we went to Pizza Street Buffet. The boys were really hungry after playing two back to back games. Brendan started keeping track of the number of pieces of pizza he was consuming. Danny Kralicek started to count his as well and it became a competition of course. They were moaning and groaning at the end but Brendan was not to be outdone! Final score: Danny 34 and Brendan 35 pieces.Brendan will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. I am so very thankful I had the opportunity to get to know him and your whole family. We love you!Coach Gary Lindsay and Julie
Maura and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May your memories bring you comfort and peace.
We loved that young man! I know that he and Miles had many discussions over the years about faith, life and baseball. He always had a big hug for us and a beautiful smile. He will live on in our memories AND be missed. May God give you peace and serve as your strength as only He can during this time. Lean on Him and let His mercy and love flow.
