We can not remember a time when we saw CE anything but cheerful. He was quick to smile and always made you feel welcome. We will miss his stories, wit and CE-isms.
To Amy and his family, we are so, so sorry. CE was one of the good ones.
To family members and friends of CE: Please accept my sincere sympathy as you remember your dad, brother, son and friend. I taught at RHS and was happy to know CE. He was a senior when I arrived. He wasn’t in any of my classes, but I considered him an important part of my tenure at Russell High. I, too, graduated from RHS. Bruce can relate the relationship I had with the family. My parents spent lots of time with Cecil and Bobbie, and they loved Amy. I just wanted to let you know of another life that CE touched, and I am a better man because of that.

Met C.E. 12 years ago through mutual business contacts. Always enjoyed discussing KU and ISU athletics and C.E.’s stories of being family friends with fellow Russell native Bob Dole and his family
I am shocked to hear of C.E.’s passing. Having grown up in Russell and graduated from RHS I knew him well. To Cecil, Bruce, Stephanie and Amy, I am so sorry for your loss. May God comfort you during this time. Seems impossible that I will never be able to talk to C.E. again. Rest in peace C.E.

CE and I worked together at Kansas Fire & Casualty, CE was like a Bright light in the office, everyone loved seeing and working around CE.
The world needs more like CE, sorry for the loss to his family.
Wow. What a surprise. My heart goes out to the Witt family. May you forever hold the pleasant memories you shared with C.E.
To the family and friends of C.E. my deepest condolences. C.E. and I were fraternity brothers at the University of Kansas. He was one year behind me, but that made no difference to any of us in the house. He had a great sense of humor, was always upbeat and a dear friend during our years at KU. I had the chance to see him a few years ago at a KU event. Bill Heisler
Someone forgot another one of his fine traits.. He was a great competitor on the course and I so enjoyed our time together. Thanks for helping our daughter and family and especially the gift of their first pet, Bill. Miss ya Witt….
I can’t remember when I saw C.E. not having a smile on his face (other than seeing or talking about KU basketball). It was and is such a shock.
I continue to pray for C.E. and his family.
I have the privilege of knowing C.E. and the entire Witt family. The best word I can use to describe C.E. is fun. I loved having a “cold one” with C.E. while discussing KU sports, fraternity memories and life in general. I am proud to call him my friend. To the family….so sorry for your loss. C.E. was a great person.
I just learned of C.E’s passing today through a fraternity brother. I haven’t seen or talked with him for over 30 years. Yet, the news of his passing has left me numb. My memories of him and the time we spent together seem to be all I can think about. I will miss him. God be with his loved ones during this time.He was a special person. God bless him.
I am sorry I cannot be with the family and friends of C.E. Witt tomorrow, but I will be remembering his friendly smile with a warm heart. May your memories give you strength, Amy, Stephanie, Jody,Trey, Suzanne, Taylor and Todd, and the rest of the family. I met C.E. through Wayne Mertel, a fraternity brother and best friend, I am his sister. Love you all
It is with tears that we will remember his smile. A man of letters and learning. A man of grace and charm whom we all shall miss. C.E. was one of the guys you always remembered for his disarming personality and positive upbeat glad to see ya, how ya been attitude? Many memories will be shared, a scotch or two lifted and forever we will remember a friend, a brother and the man. AEKDB
My condolences to C.E.’s family. What a great guy. Please take comfort in knowing that he has gone on to a better place and we will all see him again some day.
My deepest condolences to the Witt family. C.E. was such a wonderful guy and gone too soon. Rock Chalk, C. E.
Loved this man! Great times with CE back at KU and the Kappa Sig house. Some how, I never thought CE would be one of the first to go. He had a zest for life – living it full with family and friends. To the extended family, I am praying with you / grieving with you on this great loss. I am so sorry to receive this news from afar and apologize for not being with you today, on the day of his resting service. May God watch over you and give you peace and comfort during this difficult time. God bless you all. CE’s friend forever.
Our deepest sympathy is with you now. I had the unexpected gift of sharing a Chiefs win with CE and Amy last fall. It took CE and me a few minutes to realize we had been neighbors on Lee Blvd. Our prayers for his family and friends.
My most sincere condolences to C.E.’s entire family. I’ll always remember that infectious laugh over a story or joke. Every time you encountered this guy there was that warm greeting smile. He was truly an emissary of good will. All positive memories.
I had the pleasure of working with CE for a number of years. We loved talking about golf and our mutual love for KU. What a nice man. I am so sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of CE. He was always such a kind and wonderful guy!! My prayers and thoughts are with Cecil, Bruce, Stephanie and Amy. May you memories comfort you!!
