Christopher Lee Haines left this world on October 8, 2020, in Liberty, MO, after a lengthy battle with liver disease. He was 50 years old. Chris loved life and enjoyed entertaining everyone he came in contact with, be it with a joke, a smile on a cloudy day, or a snide comment from his dry sense of humor. Like most of the rest of his family, he didn’t have a serious bone in his body.
Chris was born in Kansas City to Warren M. and Dorothy (Spicer) Haines. He was a life-long fan of Kansas City sports and tirelessly followed the Royals and the Chiefs. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School and attended Wichita State University, where he was a member of the bowling team. He worked at Delden Manufacturing for over 20 years.
Chris is survived by his mother, Dorothy, his brothers Warren (Stacey), and Kent (Sandra), his sister Lori (Rob) Howie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Prior to his passing, Chris sent his beloved 4-legged son, Buster, to live with Uncle Kent, Aunt Sandra, and his 4-legged cousin, Tubbs.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service has been delayed. The family asks that you make a donation to the American Liver Foundation in his memory.
To all of Chris’s family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss and Chris will always be loved through out the world because of his kindness, heart and humor. Rest in Peace my friend and thank you for my snow scrapers! We already need them this year!
Chris I never got to meet you in person. We battle liver disease together and spent about the same times in the hospital. We would always joke who would be the next one to be admitted, you or me. Sure going to miss our facebooks messages. Rest In Peace Warrior. fly high amongst the Angels on high. Love you liver brother!!
I’ve known Chris for several years as a member of a liver disease support group online. He was kind, supportive and could always brighten things up with his great sense of humor.
He spoke often of his love for his family, especially his mom and his faithful Buster. We were all so relieved when Buster was able to relocate with family.
I take comfort in knowing that Chris loved the Lord and that this is not goodbye.
John 11:25-26 (KJV): Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
What a beautiful obituary and it spoke the truth about our beloved chris Haines ???
I knew Chris from an online liver support group. We both had end stage liver disease. He always made me laugh, even when he was feeling bad himself. He was a funny, kind person and will be missed. RIP Chris. Fly high!❣
We never met in person, but I feel as though I knew you forever ? you touched my heart and helped me thru tough times? amazing person ✝️?
? sorry for your loss. We will miss him. May he rest in peace and prayers of comfort for family and friends.
This is truly a tragedy, I had the great honor and pleasure of growing up with Chris from Elementary school thru high school, He was really one of the “greats” and I was so lucky to have known Him. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this time. Rest in peace old friend, you will be truly missed!!
What a beautiful obituary for a beautiful man, both inside and out. Chris and I grew up together. From Junior high through high school we spent so much time together at each others houses playing video games, basketball, softball, bowling, board games, ping pong and even a lot of yard work if we made the dumb mistake of telling Mr. Haines we were bored :). Chris’s father was my coach in both softball and bowling and someone that I admired greatly along with Mrs. Haines. I loved going over there for dinner, especially when she made meatballs and her chocolate sheet cake. So many great memories. Chris was also a groomsman in my wedding. Though we hadn’t seen each other in forever we stayed in contact through social media, often messaging each other about the Chiefs or Royals. I loved Chris’s dry sense of humor and quick wit. We really hit it off from day one and I have a lifetime of wonderful memories that I will always cherish. My thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences to Momma Haines, his siblings and the entire family. The world lost a great one, but a great one that will never be forgotten. Chris, my brother, I will miss you and thank you for being such a wonderful and amazing person and friend………..RIP my good friend, I love you brother!!
sure do miss you ole buddy…i keep looking for your daily snide remarks to anything i post online…many prayers for your family
I’ve known Chris since 1998. We’d hang out and hit the Granada in Lawrence and had an amazing time. He was my best friend for 22 yrs and was Uncle to my son. He had our picture on his work desk for years. He was the light in my darkness many times and I miss him. And though i wish i could have selfishly kept him i know it was Gods wish to have him. My heart is with his family. Until we meet again Chris.. i love and miss you..
