Darrel Lee Odle, 85, passed away on Saturday February 29th, 2020 while residing at Strafford Commons in Overland Park, Kansas.
Darrel was born on the family farm near Stockton, Kansas to Elmer and Ruby Odle on September 23rd, 1934. He attended school in a one-room, Rooks County school house through the eighth grade and graduated from Stockton High School. Darrel married Nola B. LeSage in 1956 after serving in the United States Army and later graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Agricultural Education. In 2006, he retired from the vegetation management industry as Vice-President and Co-Owner of Chem-Trol Inc. and Vegetation Management Supply Inc. Darrel was a Mason and fraternity member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite, and Abdallah Shriners. He was also a proud andactive member of Country Club Christian Church. Darrel was a lifelong, avid, and frequent donor to the Kansas City Blood Bank. And, as a K-State alumnus, Darrel had a passion for and was forever a fan of his Wildcats.
Darrel is preceded in death by his wife, brother Donnie, and parents. He leaves as his legacy,son Steven (Renee) Odle, daughter Andrea (Trever) McCall, five Grandchildren, and threeGreat-Grandchildren, as well as three brothers, sisters in law, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. All of whom will treasure his memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Association via their website alz.org/kansascity.
UPDATED on 3/17/2020: The family has decided to cancel the Celebration of Life that was scheduled for March 28 at Hereford House at this time.
