Douglas Charles Wyckoff passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born to the late Donald Kermit Wyckoff and Gladys Mary Hammer on April 27, 1942, in Santa Monica, California.
Douglas is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Joan Arlene Wyckoff, whom he married on June 19, 1965. He also leaves behind his beloved daughter, Lara Anne Wyckoff, and three cherished grandchildren: Graeson Jerome Wallace, Chase Harold Christenson, and Porter J. Christenson.
A California State University, Northridge graduate, Douglas earned his history degree in 1964. He began his professional career at Dun & Bradstreet, launching a successful 40-year journey in sales and management that reflected his dedication and work ethic.
Beyond his career, Douglas was passionate about fishing—a true enthusiast whose love for the sport took him across the country and around the world in pursuit of the perfect catch. In his later years, he found deep purpose and spiritual fulfillment serving as an usher at the Church of the Resurrection, where his warm presence and quiet dedication touched many.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 16, at 2:00 PM in Wesley Chapel at The Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Douglas’s memory to The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City or to The Church of the Resurrection Hunger Ministries.

Doug has had a fascinating life. He was scheduled to fly in flight 191 from Chicago to Los Angeles in the late 70’s. He had to cancel at the last minute. The plane crashed on takeoff. He also had reservations to be on a Pacific Southwest flight out of San Diego, which he also had to cancel. That plane also crashed and 144 people were killed.
