Douglas John Leopold passed away in his sleep on July 19th, 2017 . He was born in Marceline Missouri on June 8th, 1957.He graduated from Marceline High School with the Class of 1975.He had attended college at CMSU in Warrensburg, and graduated in 1979 with an education degree. He taught history in Marceline, as well as in Holt County. He lived in Independence Missouri for most of his adult life. He was also a screen printer with his company Grand Impressions that he started in 1980’s.

He was an avid UCM Mules fan, and maintained his relationships with many college friends. Over the last few years he had attended many games, and was able to recall their statistics and records. As a father, he helped to coach many of his children’s sports teams, and would attend as many games as he could. He also loved traveling, trivia nights, and attending Peanut Night in Marceline.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Marjorie (Hedrick) Leopold. He is survived by his Sisters and Brothers: Denise Leopold and wife Susan, Harry Leopold, Lynnette and Stan East, Paul and Kim Leopold, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his three children, Adam Leopold and Sara Stubblefield, Heather and Mike Ebert, Justin and Ally Leopold and two grandchildren, Lucas and Cameron Leopold, who were the delight of his life.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 28th at 0900, with a Mass to follow at 10:00 at the Nativity of Mary Catholic Church located at 10021 E 36th Terrace S, Independence, MO 64052.

There will be a graveside burial at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Marceline, Mo the following day at 10:30 am.
