Faye Margaret Sexton, 93, was born July 6, 1923 in Winkler, Kansas to Arthur and Dora (Baird) Wohler and passed away on June 3, 2017 at the Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas

She grew up on a farm in northeast Kansas. She attended a one-room schoolhouse through the eight grade and graduated from high school in Barnes, Kansas. There were many fond memories of growing up on the farm in spite of the depression years. Good times with four brothers and two sisters constituted the stories, she would often share with the children and grandchildren’s eager ears.

Shortly after graduation, she started working for Civil Service at Ft. Riley, Kansas where she met David Sexton, who was stationed there. On November 7, 1947, they were married in her parents’ home. Three daughters Donna, Janet, and Barbara were born to them in the ensuing years. After many travels with the Army, they retired in Junction City. She retired from Civil Service in 1982 and used her new found time doing needlework, quilting, and gardening. Spending time with family was her favorite past time.

They were members of the Alida Upland church until her husband, David, passed away in 1999. In 2004, she moved to Olathe to live with her daughter and son-in-law and attended church with them until she was homebound.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet and her husband Kevin Simon of Olathe, Kansas and Barbara and her husband David Karlin of Cushing, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Jonna, Kaley, Andy, Allison and Danny and ten great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Wohler of Guthrie, Oklahoma and one sister, Irene Wohler of Overland Park, Kansas. Preceding her in death were her husband, David Sexton, an infant daughter, Donna, her parents, three brothers, Eldon, Marvin and Dale Wohler, and one sister, Shirley Samuelson.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Alida Upland Cooperative Church 2243 3300 Ave, Junction City, KS 66441. A Visitation will be held at 10:00 am. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Fort Riley Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Olathe Hospice House 15310 S Marion St, Olathe, KS 66061.
