Haley Lorene Drown, 19, of Leawood, passed away May 31, 2015 surrounded by family following a brief and tragic illness. Haley was born November 25, 1995 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Leawood, Haley was a 2014 graduate of Blue Valley North High School and had recently completed her freshman year at The University of Kansas where she was majoring in Accounting and Economics. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Haley was a member of National Charity League, a mother/daughter philanthropy, through which she served many worthy organizations. Haley was employed by Dean and Deluca since 2010. The team at Dean was like a second family to Haley and she treasured her time there very much.
Haley is survived by her parents, Marta and Greg of Leawood, her sister Katie of New York City, her brother Bob of Kansas City, her beloved Bella, aunt and uncle Leslie and Charlie Birmingham, Spring Hill, and cousins Amanda Liem and Samantha Ragle. In addition to family, Haley was blessed to have many, many friends.
Among countless things, Haley will be remembered for her bright smile, her gentle spirit and her generous attitude. Consistent with her approach to life, Haley chose to be an organ donor several years ago. This decision allowed Haley to improve the quality and length of multiple other lives throughout the country.
A service celebrating Haley’s amazing but all-too-short life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Haley’s church, The Presbyterian Church of Stanley, 14895 Antioch Road, Overland Park, KS 66221. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation (www.takedefense.org ).

Greg and Marta, words alone cannot express the true sorrow in my heart. Not having known Haley, I can only imagine she was one amazing young lady given how special her parents are. You shall remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Though I never had the pleasure of meeting Haley, I had the privilege of working with her sister Katie who would speak of her daily. My deepest condolences are with the Drown family right now, and I pray they find peace in the selflessness Haley exhibited in her decision to donate her organs; a final act of kindness. Though Haley may be gone in body, she will forever live in spirit.
Greg, Marta, Katie and Bob,
I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter and your sister.
My thoughts and prayers are with the wonderful and loving Drown family.
In loving kindness,
Rex Davis

Greg & Marta,
My heart breaks for you and your family. I lost my Dad in April and there are still no words to describe that pain, but the loss of a child leaves me completely speechless. My prayers are with you.
