Helen A. (Godin) Kitzman passed away on February 26, 2015 at the age of 101. She was born in Chicago on February 7, 1914 and, despite the death of her father when she was three and her mother at age 16, Helen went on to graduate from high school. She met and married her husband of 69 years, Wendell “Kitz”Kitzman and they had two girls, Kathie and Barbara. Over the next many years she dutifully followed her husband from Chicago to Lohrville, Iowa to Phoenix, Arizona and back to Iowa, eventually settling down in Des Moines for 30 years, all the while nurturing her family, including her seven grandchildren. When Kitz retired from the rental business, they moved to Clearwater, Florida for 10 years, before returning to Des Moines. In 1998 they moved to Johnson County, where Kitz died in 2004 at age 94.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Anna Godin, her husband, her brother William and Great Grandson Charles William Albrecht. She is survived by her daughters Kathie Brick (Patrick) and Barbara Albrecht (Jim); grandchildren Steve, Mark, Ryan, Katie (Harvey), and Scott Brick, and Kristin (Rissler) and Kevin Albrecht; and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 6630 Nall Ave., Mission, KS on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
