Inez Spreer Armstrong 1/25/1934 –   4/30/2023

Inez Elaine (Spreer) Armstrong passed peacefully at the age of 89 on April 30, 2023, after a brief illness at Silverado Memory Care.

Inez was born January 25th,1934 in Barnes, KS, the daughter of Otto & Lydia (Behrens) Spreer. Living in Kansas all her life, Inez grew up near Barnes KS in Washington county in her early years, before the family moved to Topeka and then settled in Grantville KS. She was one of ten siblings in a very large German farm family, five boys and five girls. Her siblings spanned eighteen years from the oldest to the youngest. Farm life was a way of life for Inez growing up – everyone pitched in to help. Raised by her sisters and entertained by 28 nieces and nephews, and the number keeps growing with newer generations.

She is a graduate of Washburn Rural High School, and married her high school sweetheart Lyle Armstrong in 1952. The two of them lived their best lives in Topeka, Olathe, and Shawnee and their beloved Colorado. Inez worked for Gill Studios for 25 years.

Inez was known for her energy. Lived a full life with her husband Lyle. Hard work was in her blood, as no chore was left undone, while providing an extra hand to anyone who needed it – her trademark. She was an avid walker, never shying away from any opportunity to walk. Always had a smile and infectious warm soul to be around.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Otto & Lydia Spreer, brothers LaVern Spreer, Alfred Spreer, and sisters Eleanor Spreer Sloan, Loeda Spreer Stohs, Glaydys Spreer Beaty Schubert. Inez is survived by living siblings Donna Spreer Lehman, Elver Spreer, Ron Spreer, and Larry Spreer. Her children: Michael D. Armstrong (son) and wife Kristen Lofstedt Armstrong, Toni L Armstrong (daughter) and partner Greg Webb, Audrey Armstrong Sparks (daughter) and husband Randy Sparks. Her grandchildren: Cody Armstrong, Marlee Armstrong Dunn and husband Jon Dunn, Cassie Sparks Kuehl and husband Chris Kuehl, Brett Armstrong, Drake Sparks and wife Macy Loring Sparks. And her great grandchildren, Army Dunn, Cash Dunn, Leyton Dunn, and soon to be born child of Cassie & Chris Kuehl.

The carpet is well worn by the gang of ladies at Silverado Memory Care whom Inez walked withevery day. Today there is one less person walking with her beloved friend Patti and the gang around the halls of Silverado Memory Care. God bless those who cared for Inez and the residents these past few years at Silverado.

A grave site service for friends and family will be held Saturday May 6th, at 11:30am, at Shawnee Memorial Gardens, 23215 W. 75 Street, Shawnee, KS.
