Jacqueline A. Horner, age 84, of Overland Park, KS slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 12, 2017. She was lovingly called “Whitey” by most friends and family, a nickname given to her by Tom Jr, her husband of 60 years.

Jackie was born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO where she lived until she met an Army boy from Pennsylvania, Tom Jr., who swept her off her feet and married her. They moved to Lawrence, KS where he finished his education and played football for KU. Avid Jayhawk supporters, they were in attendance whether it was the Orange Bowl for football or the Final Four. She loved her KU friends and enjoyed traveling to all the games and entertaining friends in their suite on Saturdays.

Jackie was the ultimate mom, not only to her five children, but to anyone who had a need. If there was a kid that needed a hot meal or a place to stay you would find them at Jackie’s home being treated like one of her own.

Jackie and Tom were faithful members of Christ Church Anglican. They loved the regular worship services, their small group, and their many church friends.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Tom Jr, her two daughters, Becky Nichols (Larry) and Debbie Williamson (Rick), and three sons, Tom Horner III (Shelly), Dana “Gus” Horner (Beth), and Brock Horner (Barb), her grandchildren Jordan Frederes, Daniel Nichols, Jackson and Mackenzie Adriano, T.J., Justin, and Jake Horner, Christopher (Shannon) Horner, Margaret Horner, Brock Horner, Andrew Barth, David (Jill) Barth, Kate (Stephen) Moore, several great grandchildren, and her sister Fran Karlson of Cherokee, IA.

Services for Jackie will be held on Friday, January 20th at 2:00pm at Christ Church Anglican, 5500 W. 91st Street, Overland Park, KS 66207. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service to greet the family as Jackie would say “nothing fancy”.

The family requests no flowers and memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Anglican, 5500 W 91st Street, Overland Park, KS 77207 or Williams Education Fund (Kansas Athletics), 1651 Naismith Drive, Lawrence, KS 66045-4069.

I’m so happy that she is at peace now in the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless your family through this season of loss and I just want to say thank you for allowing me in to your family for the year I got to spend with her and Tom. I love you all
