Janet Filson Beets of Kansas city, MO passed away on Aug 21, 2018 at Amour Oaks Senior Living Community at the age of 84. Janet was born in St. Joseph, MO and graduated from Central High School. After her family moved to Kansas City, she earned her A.A. from Kansas City Community College and received her B.S. from University of Missouri at Columbia. After graduation she returned to Kansas City and married Donald Beets. Janet began a 20-year long career at AT&T as a Data Systems Supervisor. After retirement, she led a full life filled with volunteering at UMKC Library and The Nelson-Atkins Museum. She enjoyed foreign travel, reading, and attending various stage performances.

She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of over 60 years, Donald Beets of Kansas City, her brother John Filson and wife Anne, brother in-law Norman Schweder, two nephews John and wife Li-Pei and Eric Schweder, and a niece Katherine Fitch Ellis and husband Dan.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents Florence and Roy Filson and by her sisters Mary Jo Fitch and Jane Schweder.

A memorial will be held at 2:00pm on Oct. 20, 2018 at Country club United Methodist Church at 400 W. 57^thSt. Kansas City, MO 64113.

Janet my Aunt took me shopping for cloths on my Birthday and Christmas time I will always remember her for this. Janet was always thinking of others which made her a very special Aunt to know.I will miss her very much very much. Love Eric Lee Schweder
