John had many skills and talents, a proverbial jack of all trades. His best was his gift of gab. He enjoyed talking to everyone about anything. Those closest to him knew this to be true. He was born in Heidelberg, Germany; but spent most of his life in Kansas. He went to HighSchool at Shawnee Mission South along with all his brothers and sisters. At age 17 he joined the US Army and served from 1971-1975. He went to basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He then attended Microwave Tech. training at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey 1971. He was stationed at Ft. Meyer, VA in 1972. Then attended Jump School at Ft. Benning, GA in 1973 and was then stationed with the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC from 1973-1975. He attended NCOES training at Ft Benjamin Harrison, in 1974. After his military service he then went on to many trades, i.e. Cab Driver, Restaurant Manager, Milk Man, and a General Contractor amongst many others. Finally, he spent most of his career as a remodeling contractor for more than 20 years before his early retirement due to his health complications.
John was a charismatic man who had lived more lives than a cat and was always young at heart. During his life he touched the lives of many people. He was a son, brother, husband, father, and friend who has left behind his family and many friends that love him and will miss him dearly.
