John Frederick Daniels Jr died peacefully on August 22nd, 2019 in the company of his family.  He was born to John F. Daniels and wife Agatha on August 7, 1923.  He grew up in the Kansas City area, attending St. James elementary school and DeLaSalle High School. He graduated college from Rockhurst College with a degree in Business and enlisted in the Navy in July, 1943. John served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade on the LSM 384 and 147 in the Pacific Theatre of WWII, until June of 1946.  John and his wife of 70 years, Mary Margaret Fennesy, were married on June 18, 1949 after meeting on a blind date. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for the duration of his career, earning a Certificate of Award for his noteworthy contributions.  He enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends and had a great appreciation for music of the Big Band Era, namely Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole.  John and Mary Margaret were long standing members of Christ the King Parish in KC.

John is preceded in death by his parents, sister Sr. Canisius, RSM, and grandson Paul Verhulst.  He is survived by his wife and 8 children: Mary Ann Verhulst and husband Mark (Mark Jr., David, Steven, Sandy, Lisa), Kathleen Schmitt and husband Jim (Jessica, Andrew, and Elizabeth), John F Daniels III and wife Kim (Dominique and John F. IV), William J Daniels and wife Meg (Jacob and Joy), Frank Daniels and wife Kathleen (Patrick, Frances, and Grace), Marguerite Klingler and husband Bob (Coleen and Madeline), Barbara DeFrancia and husband Ken (Emily, Anna Marie, and David), Jim Daniels and wife Kristin (Katherine, Matthew, and Sarah), and 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Wallace E. and wife Barbara, and Carl G. Daniels.

Services will  be held on Tuesday, Aug 27, 2019 at Christ the King Parish 425 W. 85th St.  KC, MO. Visitation 9 AM, funeral mass at 10 AM, with a lunch to follow.
