John Rembs, 72, passed away on October 14, 2018, after “fighting the good fight” against cancer for nearly 10 years.
John was one of a kind.
It is hard to express what a void John has left, as he meant so many things to so many people. Although he will be missed dearly, we are comforted in knowing he is no longer suffering and getting the peace he so deserves.
John’s main priority in life was his family. He and his wife Kathy, of almost 49 years, were a model of love and devotion in sickness and in health, good times and bad.
As a father, he was a rock…a constant source of support and optimism.  As a father-in-law, he could not have been a better friend, confidant and patriarch. As a Papa, he was everything to his two grandsons. They stuck together like glue, always out for an adventure. They can credit their Papa for instilling in them a sense of mischief and the love of a good time.
As a friend and neighbor, John was the go-to guy if you wanted a good laugh, to watch a game, or have a cocktail. He never knew a stranger and made friends wherever he went. He loved to “Rembs-inisce”, rehashing the good old times.
He had an affinity for good music, dancing, and all things sports-related, especially the Chiefs.  He was a pool shark and darts aficionado; but will mostly be remembered for his charismatic (and ornery) personality and positive outlook on life.
John is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter Michelle and her husband Greg Goss; -and two grandsons, Griffin and Cooper; and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 22 from 4:30-5:30 pm at Visitation Church, followed by a Funeral Mass. 5141 Main Street. KCMO 64112.
In lieu of flowers, please pay it forward and do something kind for your friends, family, or a total stranger…in John’s spirit.
