Jonathan Kendrick passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the age of 37.
Everyone who knew Jonathan loved him. He was kind, hilariously funny, and he loved kitty cats. He was also very creative and talented. He loved sports and played baseball every year from preschool through high school. He was also a big Chiefs fan. Jonathan had a wickedly dry sense of humor and loved to share jokes, memes, and funny videos with everyone. He especially loved making up inside jokes with his friends and keeping them going for years. As a teenager, he was passionate about DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) and would drive all over the metro in his car named Mrs Earl to play on all of the machines at arcades. He was particularly proud to have accompanied a friend to Oslo, Norway, where his friend competed and won an International DDR Tournament. He also played a mean bass guitar in high school and was a member of an awesome band that participated in several competitions, some of which they won. After high school he trained to become a chef in culinary school and enjoyed his craft. He was incredibly talented at putting together ingredients for a fabulous dish. He worked at many restaurants throughout Kansas City and really enjoyed working at Ting’s Filipino Bistro, where he was employed as Chef de Cuisine. His family was always eager to savor his creations. He made many friends throughout Kansas City, who will dearly miss him.
Throughout the past several years Jonathan struggled with addiction. He tried several times to overcome and be free of it. Despite the love and support of his family, and given every opportunity to recover from his struggles, in the end, the evil of addiction won. Jonathan, we will miss you so much. We hope and pray you are finally at peace and are resting safely in the arms of Jesus.
Jonathan is survived by his parents; Michael and Deborah Kendrick of Leawood, KS, sister; Kristen Czugala (Matthew) of Lenexa, KS, nephews; Jackson and Hunter Czugala, and many friends.
A celebration of Jonathan’s life will be held on Sat. Oct 1st at 10:30am at Christ Community Church, 14200 Kenneth Rd. Leawood, KS 66224. A reception will follow. Johnathan, though our paths only briefly crossed, you made a lasting impression on me. Rest easy, I will remember you always and that grand smile.
