Liesel Hartman Anderson, 15, of Fairway, KS left this life far too soon on June 28, 2021. Born to Steve and Courtney Anderson on March 3, 2006, Liesel joyfully lived her years in a way that inspired everyone who met her. The illness that took her life did not define her, and instead gave her more power and will to live exactly how she wanted to- with love, laughter, color, and fun.
From the earliest days of her life, Liesel’s smile lit up the room. Her creativity and style radiated. Whether it was making jewelry, art, singing, making videos, or taking photographs, Liesel was an artist whose world was brightly colored.
Liesel loved her friends and playing soccer while attending St. Ann Grade School and Highlands Elementary, and cheerleading while at Indian Hills Middle School. She just completed her Freshman year at St. Teresa’s Academy where she was the happiest she has ever been. She developed many meaningful friendships and truly embodied the St. Teresa’s school motto, Deo Adjuvante Non Timendum, ‘trust God and Fear nothing’.
Liesel’s magnetic personality did more than just attract people to her, it brightened the lives of her entire community. Liesel loved people and they were the most important aspect of her life. Her curiosity sparked incredible conversations whether it was someone much younger or decades older. Liesel’s wisdom was beyond her years. She welcomed different points of view and embraced uniqueness.
Liesel’s vast community fought bravely alongside Liesel and celebrated every day with her to the fullest. Each of the following carry Leisel’s legacy of light and color– parents, Steve and Courtney, her brother, Will, her grandparents Randy and Kathy Hartman and Carolyn Owen Anderson and great grandmother Lorraine Anderson Heckman. Her aunts, uncles and cousins: Kyle and Natalie Hartman (Nicholas, Maggie, Anne), Clay and Kate Hartman (Lucy, Zoe, George), Craig and Heidi Hartman (Reese, Adam, Hanna), Kalen and John Lichtenberg (Isa, Ben, Lily, Gia), Laurie and Charles Kay (Miles, Evie), Tim and Katie Anderson (Owen, Emmett, Parker, Lila), Anna and Todd Swirczek and her favorite pets Daisy, Nemo and Kitty.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30am, Friday July 9th at St. Teresa’s Academy, 5600 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri. For those unable to join us in person, we welcome you join us virtually through the following link: https://zoom.us/j/99005826830?pwd=MUV2QkVmZ0IxZTBQQy9iS0xrb2Rodz09

The world will hear it one day… May your life heal the pain in our hearts, and your passing liberate us from our hardened pride, and with love in its place as it floods into the space you so unselfishly made for us, bring our estranged family together, and your death shall not be in vain.
