Lya Frayling, age 53, passed to the Lord peacefully on March 10, 2015 after a two year struggle with cancer. Lya was born July 29, 1961, in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Lya loved athletics and the outdoors. In her youth she was an avid cyclist and at the age of 21 won first place in a citywide race. Lya graduated first in her class from her bilingual secretarial school.
In January of 1983 she moved to the United states and began working. In 1984, Lya married the love of her life Glyn Frayling, and started a family. She gave birth to and raised her seven children with endless love and sacrifice. She was employed by the Grandview c4 school district as a secretary at Martin City Elementary/Middle school for nine years and then worked as a medical interpreter for Domenic and Associates which she loved and believed to be her true calling.
Lya was an extremely devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas and later Coronation of our Lady in Grandview, Missouri.
Lya is survived by her husband Glyn, her seven children; Peter, Stephen, Glen, John Paul, Lucia, Esther, and Nicholas; her mother Olga Bermudez, sister Ivana Macal, brother Manuel Alvarado, half brother David Lemus, and her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be a visitation, service, and luncheon at Coronation Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to CFCA. Assistance by Funeral Advocates, LLC
