Marian Lee Flemming, 84, Kansas City, Missouri, went to be with her Father in Heaven on March 5, 2014.
Mrs. Flemming was born March 28, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Fred C. Reynolds and Louise (Lee) Reynolds. She graduated in 1947 with honors from Sumner High School located in Kansas City, Kansas.
She was married to Fred Flemming, a young man from Cullison, Kansas, on August 6th, 1948 until his death November 19th, 1992. There were four children born from the marriage of 44 years, which she spent in Pratt,Kansas. For more than 35 years of her life she resided in Pratt as a proud mother, housewife and active member of Second Baptist Church. Marian moved back to Kansas City in 1983 and rejoined the church of her childhood, Ward Chapel AME. She became the caretaker to her mother and step- father, John H. Booker, but never forgot her love for the country life she left behind in Pratt, Kansas. Marian was a Christian and always saw the good in everyone. She loved God, her family and friends, but always enjoyed meeting new people. She was giving and kind but always a strong advocate of doing what’s right.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law and one grand-child. She leaves behind her four children: Freddie Pierre Flemming, Philip and Yolande Overbay (daughter), Andrea Flemming and Adrienne Flemming-Grant. Marian is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as her only brother, Maurice Reynolds, of Kansas City, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Marian will be buried next to her husband at Leavenworth National Cemetery; Monday, March 10th at 10:00 a.m.
