Mary Kathryn Strickland, 93 of Lebanon, MO passed away Sept 20, 2017 in Prairie Village, KS.
Mary K was born in Springfield, MO to James T. and Dona K. Carroll on December 30, 1923. She was a graduate of St. Cecelia’s Academy in Washington, D.C. and Drury College in Springfield, MO. She worked as a Registered Medical Technologist and served as the Laboratory Director at Breech Medical Center in Lebanon, MO for greater than 40 years. During her long and successful career, she provided countless hours of mentoring and apprenticeship to young men and women of Lebanon who desired to enter the medical field. She was very influential in guiding her five children toward careers in medicine as well. She was named to the “Wall of Honor” by the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce in 2006 for her unique and sustained contributions to her community. She was a member of the Libra and Book Club. She especially enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her large family and many friends. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Mary K. Is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack T. Strickland and her five children, Dr. James (Linda) of St. Louis, MO, Dr. Kathryn (Jack) Hembree of Liberty, MO, Dr. John (Dr. Julie) of Kansas City, MO, Dr. Mary Pat (Dr. Michael) Lange of Lawrence, KS, and Dr. Michael (Dr. Suzy) of Ft. Myers, FL. She had 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dona, her sister Patricia Carroll, and grandson Jack Lange.
A memorial service is planned for November 4, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Prairie Village, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Lebanon, MO or Catholic Charities (https://catholiccharitiesusa.org).
So sorry to her of your mother’s passing. She was a great woman & I remember her fondly. All of you are a testament to her warmth & caring of others. I know you all will miss her & her wisdom. Prayers for your families.
