Mary Margaret Daniels died peacefully with family by her side on Monday, January 17, 2022. She was
born September 2, 1926 in Kansas City, the only child of William and Margaret Fennesy. After her
mother died, William married Grace (Spoor) Fennesy who became a loving mother and grandmother.
Known for touching the lives of everyone she met with warmth, kindness and her trademark wit, Mary
Margaret treasured, and was treasured by, her family and friends.
She attended St. Therese Academy high school and St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth. She was the
mother of 8 children and the grandmother of 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great
great-grandchildren. She was a trusted confidante to many. Mary Margaret was deeply loved as a wife,
mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and cousin and somehow remembered everyone’s birthdays,
interests and life details. She was sincerely interested in the countless people who crossed her path.
Mary Margaret and John F. Daniels, Jr., her husband of 70 years, met on a blind date after WWII and
were immediately smitten with each other. They were devoted Catholics and daily communicants. They
enjoyed travelling, ballroom dancing, gardening, volunteering and spending time with family.
She was an accomplished cook, seamstress, quilter, crafter and upholsterer. She loved the NYT
crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and enjoyed watching PBS mysteries and in later years the HGTV
channel. One of her greatest joys was thrifting and repurposing items for special gifts for her
grandchildren.
She dedicated her free time to volunteering with various organizations including Good Shephard Manor
and Redemptorist food pantry and closet.
Mary Margaret will be greatly missed by her loving family, dear cousin Betty and all of those who were
fortunate to have met her. Her devotion to God, love of family and her non-judgmental spirit will live
on with the generations she leaves behind.
Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m, Rosary at 10:30 a.m., and Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on
Saturday, January 22 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, KC MO 64131.

Daniels All,
Sending love and light and time and gentleness to all the family. Aunt Mary Margaret always cracked me up whenever I was around “the grown-ups”. She was an imp — you can see it in the picture above — and I loved her all-knowing and all-getting-it energy. We will be celebrating her life with you all from Berkeley on Saturday.
Love,
Michael and Randy
