Matthew Brian Shea Jr., of Kansas City, Kansas, born on July 26, 1984 to Catherine Buckles and Matthew Shea Sr., passed away at age 34 on January 7, 2019 in Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joan Flack; and grandfathers, Gordon Flack and Harold Shea. Matthew is survived by his father Matthew Shea Sr. and stepmother, Kelly Shea; mother Catherine Buckles and stepfather, David Buckles; siblings, Dane Shea, Kristin Miller and her husband Nathan Miller, Grace Lillis, Megan Shea-Powers and step-sisters Allie and Taylor Gentry and niece Holly (Squoosh); and grandmother, Carolyn Shea. Matthew was the loving partner of Emily Smith.

He loved music, playing the guitar and harmonica, art, skateboarding, and being outdoors. He was a kind, free-spirited person with a love for all living things. Friends and family can pay their respects at the celebration of life, officiated by Reverand Duke Tufty, on Sunday, January 13 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W 47th Street, Kansas City. Attire is casual as Matthew would want you to come as you are.
