After a full life of over 94 years, Catherine Rita Denvir O’Hagan peacefully passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016. A 40-year resident of Kansas City, Kit was a surgical nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to a small city’s worth of people. She forever left her mark on 7 children, 20 grandkids and 18 great-grandkids (with two more on the way,). She was known to swing a mean slipper chasing kids around the house.
Born June 2, 1921, Kit lived through the Great Depression, WWII, Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Married to Richard (“Irish”) O’Hagan in 1947, she traveled with Irish across the United States and Western Europe during his Air Force career – often following Irish due to military life, having to take charge of 7 kids traveling behind Irish’s early departures. Moving into Kansas City in 1975, Kit has remained fixed in the area for the several decades after her husband Irish passed away. A great lady, Kit will be missed by us all, but remembered for all her contributions to so many.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 8th at 1pm at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 nw Murray Rd, Lee’s Suumit, MO 64081. Visitation will begin at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to The American Diabetes Foundation.
Beautiful classy lady! Raised an incredible and loving family. It was an honor to know her and be included in many family celebrations. We will miss her. All are in our prayers.
