Pat passed away January 21, 2016 after an eight year battle with abdominal cancer.
Pat was born in Hartford, Wisconsin on January 29, 1932 to Leo and Bertha Brumm Hawkins. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital school of Radiology in Milwaukee as an RT. She met and married the love of her life Donald (Don) Dors at Gesu Church in Milwaukee on October 15, 1955.
In 1960 they transferred to Prairie Village where they became involved members of St. Ann’s parish for 30 years raising their four children.
In 1990 they moved south and became members of Ascension parish where she developed many lasting friendships with her CRHP sisters who were of great support throughout her illness. Pat and Don were charter members at Leawood South CC and Pat was an avid golfer, participating in the 18 hole women’s group and many state tournaments. She loved the lake and spent many hours fishing off the dock in the early mornings.
After raising their children, Pat returned to an earlier interest in her life, drawing and painting. She became active in the art scene in Kansas City and other states where she participated in many local and out of state art shows. She was active in the Greater K.C. Art Association, Penwomen of America and Images II Art group, being one of the original members. In 2008 Don and Pat moved to the Santa Marta Retirement Community where she embraced another new family.
She was preceded in death by her brother, George Hawkins; Brother in law, Dean Clausen and nephew David Clausen.
Pat is survived by her husband of 60 years, Don. Her four children: Karen (Dave) Crandall, Joan (Rick) Jones, Ellen Dors (Chris Evans) and Patrick (Maggie) Dors. Her eleven grandchildren: Kayla, Hannah and Jared Crandall. Hilary (John) Cornwell , Parker (Andrea Koploy), Spencer (Sarah Catlin), Lindsey and Brian Jones. Mary, Katie and Patrick Leo Dors and one great grandchild, Scarlett Jones. Her sister Dorothy (Wally) Nelson of Longwood, Florida, nieces Gail (Andy) Titan, Mary (Jeff) Collins and nephew Jeffry Clausen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Serra Club of Johnson County, the Santa Marta Chapel or the American Cancer Society.
Mass will be at Ascension Church, 9510 W 127th Street, Overland Park, KS at 5:30 p.m. on January 26, 2016 followed by a visitation/reception in the Parish Hall. Assistance by Funeral Advocates, LLC.
