I will ALWAYS remember Pat as kind, compassionate, always having time for us kids in our little Lenexa neighborhood. God bless her and all the family, i love very much and hold dearly in my heart…Lorry, Linda, Paula, Jim…. all the grandchildren i don’t even know. Your Grandma was a wonderful woman of God.
Around 34 years ago I had the privilege of meeting the Nelson family and subsequently my sister Brenda married Lorry. Our family got to know Pat pretty well, I think. But then, very shortly afterward our parents passed away, one right after the other. At that time, I found it almost impossible to put one foot in front of the other, but I’ll never forget how Pat literally put her arms around me and told me, “I know how much you’re hurting. I am here for you, I will take care of you. Please come to me for anything you need.” At that moment I saw her as a saint because I needed a mother more than anything. Then as the years passed, time marches on, things happen and I didn’t keep in touch with Pat as much as I should have and I will regret that, but I want her children to know that she will always be in my heart…that soft voice and sweet smile is how I will always remember her.
