Stella ‘Dolly’ MacKinnon, consecrated SOLT widow, of Lone Jack, Mo. passed away on Wednesday (9/5/18) in Independence, Mo. surrounded by family. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She is survived by her children, Sean and wife Tammy MacKinnon, Constance Maxwell; grandchildren, Meaghan and Clancie MacKinnon, Leslie and Michael Maxwell. She was preceded in death by son, William, IV. and husband, Rev. William H. MacKinnon III, SOLT. Services will be held at St. Louis Parish, 5930 Swope Parkway, Kansas City, Mo., on Saturday (9/8/18) beginning with a 9:30 a.m. rosary followed by 10 a.m. Mass; followed by internment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations, in mom’s name, be sent to the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT), P.O. Box 4116, Corpus Christi, TX 78469. My wonderful neighbor Dolly MacKinnon was a beautiful person inside and out. If I had a prayer request I knew I could count on her to pray for whoever was needing the Lords help. Jim & I first met Bill & Dolly in 1973 when they decided to sell 10 acres of their small farm. It hadn’t gotten on the market yet, but the realtor (we were dealing with and had some 10 acres spots that we were interested in) told us about Bill & Dolly’s land. The 10 acre spots we first wanted were both sold. So we looked at the 10 acres and wanted it even though it only had 1 tree and a pond on it. We loved it right off. We also became instant friends with them and them with us. They took us under their wings, so to speak, as if we were their own children and our two girls were their grandchildren. When we first moved out here I didn’t have a car so Dolly and I would go to town together. That was so much fun. She was a wealth of information and guidance for me. Later Dolly became an election judge and encouraged me to do the same when she retired from being an election judge. That was back in 1992 and I’m still filling her shoes as an election judge and enjoying it like she did. Dolly will so missed, and our prayers for her children and grandchildren. We love them all.
