William Hastings Conway, 83, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away January 22, 2015 at home with his family. Bill was born to Mildred and Hase Conway on July 17, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri and lived in Webster Groves, Missouri through high school graduation. He graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1953. He attended Marquette on a ROTC scholarship and entered the USMC after graduation.
Bill is survived by his wife Elaine of the home, Kevin and Susan Conway, Geoff and Alicia Andersen, and grandchildren, Matt Conway, Will Conway, Grady Conway, Kylie McCollum and Baylie Andersen. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and daughters Linda and Pamela Conway. Bill’s body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center.
A Mass will be held celebrating Bill’s life at Cure of Ars Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas 66206, on Monday, January 26 at 11:00 AM. A reception will be held at the church following Mass. The family welcomes donations to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114; and Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. I am grateful for the life of Mr. Conway. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
