Zavier Ethan Mendoza of Olathe, KS, was born September 8, 2004 in Kansas City, KS. He was to begin his first year of high school at Olathe East. He passed away August 8. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Russell Lucas. He is survived by his parents Kelly Lucas and Kenny Thomas; his brother, Zackery Mendoza; his sister, Zoey Mendoza; his father, Louis Mendoza and many heartbroken family members. His smile will be sorely missed.
Services will be held at Indian Creek Community Church at 12480 S. Black Bob Rd. in Olathe, KS. Visitation is Monday, August 12th from 6 to 8pm. A candlelight vigil will follow at 830pm. Celebration of life is on Tuesday, August 13th at 1:30pm. Assistance by Funeral Advocates, LLC.

We cannot properly express how grateful we are to the community, friends, and strangers that have shown the family support in this incredibly difficult time in our lives. Whether it is financially through a donation to our GoFundMe, kind words, donation of goods to the family, facilities, services, just to name a few of the blessings we have been given and shown through this unforeseen tragedy. We feel God’s love through you. Because of you, the pain of losing our sweet, always-smiling Zavier is not as great a burden as it might have been otherwise. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Cherish your loved ones, remind them you love them, as tomorrow is not ever guaranteed.

Although I did not know Xavier, I have been told by a few of his peers and common acquaintances that he was absolutely a great kiddo…. I am truly saddened for your loss I might hope that your family can find all the positive aspects that he was about in his life. I would like to say that I’m sure that he would have wanted that. My prayers are out there for all of you.

My precious boy? there isn’t enough words to explain my sadness and loss, he was very smart and loved to joke around and help his mama out. He was just becoming a Beautiful young man..I thank God from the depths of my heart that I had the pleasure of being his Mother!!! I can never be the same again I cant hear his voice or get his loving hugs he’ll never be able to graduate or drive ,have children, or be able to do anything that is a 1st for a teen going to high school I love you your my everything baby life as we know it our plans together will never happen I’m so sorry baby I’ll love you always for eternity or until they take me

I am so sorry for your loss Kelly. I do not know you but I am friends with his Auntie Wish. Words cannot express my heartfelt sympathy for you and what you must be going through. No parent should ever have to endure this kind of pain. I know he would want you to stay strong for his siblings as well as yourself. My hope for you is that someday soon you will be able to recover from the unbearable pain of losing a child.

I am Zaviers Grandmother, his death has taken me to my knees. I can’t find the strength to say goodbye. I will love him for the rest of my life. He is alive in my heart.
